Ohio: Hospital officials this week announced the creation of the Heart-Brain Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, a “first of its kind” center that will focus on the interaction between the brain and heart. Officials note that the Institute—which will open in 2008—is funded largely through a $17.2 million donation from the founder of Medtronic, and they add that they will “immediately” begin hiring researchers and seeking NIH funding (Wheeler, Akron Beacon Journal, 9/2).
