Dynamic and Hybrid Configurations for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
We concluded that dynamic or hybrid ECMO configurations were used in various underlying diseases, in which V-AV was most commonly used. Patients receiving VV ECMO for respiratory support initially, who then converted to other configurations for both respiratory and circulatory support, had significantly worst outcomes among the groups studied. The initial configuration should be selected carefully after thorough assessment of patient condition.
A Novel Protocol of Retrograde Cerebral Perfusion With Intermittent Pressure Augmentation for Brain Protection
We examined a novel protocol of retrograde cerebral perfusion with intermittent pressure augmentation to improve the clinical usefulness of this procedure, in a canine model, because a high retrograde cerebral perfusion pressure may be required to open cerebral vessels.
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Support for Postcardiotomy Cardiogenic Shock in Adult Patients: Predictors of In-Hospital Mortality and Failure to be Weaned from Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
Our data suggest a reevaluation of therapeutic strategies after 60 h and again after 130 h of ECMO support.
