The Ohio State University Center for Continuing Medical Education (CCME) Posts the First Online Streaming Audio/Video for Category I CEU’s
The Ohio State University’s Circulation Technology Division in the School of Allied Medical Professions at the College of Medicine and Public Health is now streaming the first ABCP-accredited Category I Self-Directed CEU activity for CCPs and other health professionals.
Per the ABCP self-directed process, OSU has enabled CCPs and other healthcare professionals to go to http://ccme.osu.edu, select “Perfusion” under “Find events by category”, log-in, participate in the video presentation, pay a fee, complete the post-test, give the CME providers feedback and then download the certificate of completion. OSU’s CCME server maintains a permanent record of a user’s CME activity.
The first title posted is “Perioperative Blood Management: An Introduction” (60 min). A description of the content and the accreditation statement is posted at http://ccme.osu.edu .
The ABCP has awarded the presentation 1.2 Category I Self-Directed CEUs for CCPs who complete the post-test by April 11, 2005. The introductory fee to take the post-test to earn the 1.2 Category I CEUs is $18. OSU has also awarded the presentation 1.0 CME for MDs and RNs.
Now, perfusionists with access to the Internet may earn inexpensive ABCP Category I CEUs online within the convenience of their personal schedule. The OSU CT perfusion education faculty – the same group that sponsors the annual Blood Management Trends Meetings and the Perfusion Science Review Courses – is excited about the potential to fulfill their educational outreach mission with the tools at the CCME server. CCPs may now simultaneously earn inexpensive, professional ABCP Category I CEUs and support a perfusion education program.
