• Yes, they put it on a heart and lung machine to still circulate blood and control breathing.But the heart still beats a little do to elecctric signals ffrom the brain.

• Dr Redmond Burke, thank you for posting this! What an amazing video to watch. I am a NICU nurse, and have worked in many different units (one being at christiana care, which is a sister unit to AI Dupont), and have seen many babies with congenital heart defects. It is amazing to see just how they are fixed! I love what I do, and it was incredible to get a peek at what happens once these babies get to the cardiac ICU!!! Do you also do the TAPVR repairs? Thanks again for posting, and God bles

• Unfortunately, they actually do feel pain. My son has been through the series of surgeries.He was given very low doses of morphine during recovery. Then he was even prescribed liquid percocet when he was discharged.

• I had a heart surgery when I was 3 weeks old, a month old, 2 years old, and 4 years old, and I just had a CATH done in January
