Regional Lung Metabolic Profile in A Piglet Model of Cardiopulmonary Bypass with Circulatory Arrest
Our results demonstrate significant metabolic disturbances between dorsocaudal and ventral lung regions during supine mechanical ventilation with or without CPB/DHCA. CPB/DHCA also leads to metabolic differences and may have additive effects to the regional disturbances. Most pathways driving this pathology are involved in energy metabolism and the metabolism of amino acids, carbohydrates, and reduction–oxidation pathways.
Feasibility Study of a Novel Method of Concentrating Fresh Frozen Plasma by Hemoconcentrating Filter Outside Cardiopulmonary Bypass
We invented a novel method of concentrating FFP by applying a hemoconcentrating filter directly to FFP to both minimize volume and avoid affecting platelet function.
Effect of Hospital Case Volume on Clinical Outcomes of Patients Requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation: A Territory-Wide Longitudinal Observational Study
In a territory-wide observational study, we observed that case volumes in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation centers were not associated with hospital mortality. Maintaining standards of care in low-volume centers is important and improves preparedness for surges in demand.
