Editor’s Note:
I saw the series of photos you are about to see (below) and was struck by their beauty, the spirit behind the climb, and the sense of comradarie they conveyed.
Weng has been a huge supporter of “Surfers since it’s inception, and when we met- she had just graduated. Since then she has had a baby, and grown in her profession. She has contributed several articles, and shared her POV with our community.
I have a special place in my heart for the Philippines, as well as Filipinos. I was stationed there as a Hospital Navy Corpsman for 15 months, and it is one of the grandest places I have ever seen, with a truly kind and friendly people. The culture here is sublime, and the people there define the true essence of mabuting pakikisama.
Def.
“It makes the individual realize his oneness with the community and his personal commitment and loyalty to the community in return for a debt that he can never repay. For his own good is so bound up with the good of the community that without group identity he really has no self-identity.”

When reviewing the above definition, it certainly strikes a familiar chord when considering the teamwork required of a heart team. It looked like a lot of fun- and I wish I had been there to enjoy the company of these good people.
