Acute kidney injury (AKI) after pediatric cardiac surgery is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Modifiable risk factors for postoperative AKI including perioperative anesthesia-related parameters were assessed.
This review has identified several clinical practice guidelines providing recommendations for intraoperative transfusion. The existing guidelines were noted to be highly variable in their recommendations and to lack a sufficient evidence base from the intraoperative setting. This represents a major knowledge gap in the literature.
Our objective was to determine whether the use of unilateral (u-ACP) or bilateral antegrade cerebral perfusion (b-ACP) results in different mortality and neurologic outcomes after complex aortic surgery.
