A Synopsis of 2007 ACCM Clinical Practice Parameters for Hemodynamic Support of Term Newborn and Infant Septic Shock
The search was narrowed to identify studies specifically relevant to term newborns, infants, and children. "Best Practice Outcomes" were identified and described clinical practice in these centers was used as a model. The new taskforce is presently working on updating new guidelines evaluating the literature of the past 6 years.
A Multicenter Study of Primary Graft Failure after iInfant Heart Transplantation: Impact of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation on Outcomes
Primary graft failure is the major cause of mortality in infant HTx. The aim of this study was to characterize the indication and outcomes of infants requiring ECMO support due to primary graft failure after HTx.
The Effect of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) on Composite Graft Survival
As platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains large numbers of growth factors and has been widely used for tissue regeneration, this study aimed to study PRP as an adjuvant to enhance composite graft survival.
A factor XIIa Inhibitory Antibody Provides Thromboprotection in Extracorporeal Circulation Without Increasing Bleeding Risk
Currently used anticoagulants prevent thrombosis but increase bleeding. We show an anticoagulation therapy without bleeding risk based on a plasma protease factor XII function-neutralizing antibody.
The Proposed 6th edition of Standards for Perioperative Autologous Blood Collection and Administration
The proposed 6th edition of Standards for Perioperative Autologous Blood Collection and Administration is available for public comment from February 28, 2014 until April 29, 2014. A summary of significant changes is provided to facilitate review of the proposed Standards.
Global Health and Transfusion Medicine: Education and Training in Developing Countries
Education and training in transfusion medicine have improved over the past decade in developing countries but are still generally deficient for the purpose of maintaining the safety of the global blood supply.
Blood Conservation: What is Current Blood Draw Practice
The new AABB guidelines for red blood cell transfusions narrow the threshold for transfusion.
AABB Validation Study of the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network Hemovigilance Module Adverse Events Definitions Protocol
We sought to determine how participants would code adverse reactions at institutions that had or had not received training on the application of definitions used in the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network Hemovigilance Module (HVM).

Considerations on the Use of Platelet-Rich Plasma, Specifically for Burn Treatment
In this review the authors provide a comprehensive overview of the many different aspects of PRP; this is followed by a short outline of the evidence for a wide range of applications and finally narrowing down to a more in-depth analysis of the literature on the potential use of PRP in burn treatment.
Investigating the Effect of Autologous Platelet-Rich Plasma on Pain in Patients with Pilonidal Abscess Treated with Surgical Removal of Extensive Tissue
Effect of using autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on pain reduction in patients with pilonidal abscess, subjected to extensive surgical removal tissue, was investigated through a clinical trial.
Advances in Regenerative Orthopedics
The regeneration of orthopedic tissues requires 4 key components: cells, morphogenetic signals, scaffolds, and an appropriate mechanical environment.
