Refractory Cardiogenic Shock Treated By Veno-Arterial Ecmo; Prognostic Role Of Lactate
Refractory cardiogenic shock is characterized by severe hemodynamic instability with high mortality rate. In most critical patients extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is the only therapy available nowadays that gives a possibility to survive. On these bases we investigated the use of percutaneous veno-arterial ECMO as treatment for cardiogenic shock in our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and tried to define prognostic factors.
A SupraInstitutional Network for Remote Extracorporeal Life Support : A Retrospective Cohort Study
The study sought to evaluate patient outcome within the Düsseldorf Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) Network, a suprainstitutional network for rapid-response remote ECLS and to define survival-based predictors.
Antithrombin: Panacea or Hype? (EP Video)
Utilization of a goal-directed algorithm for the administration of concentrated AT for the correction of heparin resistance is safe and effective in patients undergoing cardiac surgery (41:20 minutes)
TEG®- or ROTEM®-Based Individualized Goal-Directed Coagulation Algorithms: Don’t Wait–Act Now
TEG® and ROTEM® allow prediction of massive transfusion requirement and mortality, and creation of goal-directed, individualized coagulation algorithms that may improve patient outcome.
Factors Associated with Prolonged Length of Stay Following Cardiac Surgery in a Major Referral Hospital in Oman: A Retrospective Observational Study
This study identified factors influencing prolonged postoperative length of stay (LOS) following cardiac surgery and devised a predictive model for prolonged LOS in the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU).
Point-of-Care Thromboelastography/Thromboelastometry-Based Coagulation Management in Cardiac Surgery: A Meta-Analysis of 8332 Patients
In this meta-analysis, we aimed to determine the current evidence for or against point-of-care tests (POCT)-guided algorithm in patients with severe bleeding after cardiac surgery.
Platelet Function Tests: A Ccomparative Review
In this review, well-tried and innovative platelet function tests and their methodological features and clinical applications are evaluated.
Pulmonary Artery Rupture as a Complication of Swan-Ganz Catheter Application. Diagnosis and Endovascular Treatment: A Single Centre’s Experience
This paper presents two distinct forms of iatrogenic pulmonary artery rupture (PAR) treated endovascularly using different vascular devices.
Outcomes From Cardiac Surgery in Jehovah’s Witness Patients: Experience Over Twenty-One Years
The aim of this study was to document our center's experience with Jehovah's Witnesses undergoing major cardiac surgery and to compare surgical outcomes with a matched control group.
Inverted Stress- Induced Cardiomyopathy as a Unusual Variant of Acute Heart Failure after Cesarean Delivery- A Case Report
Stress- induced cardiomyopathy is acute, reversible left ventricle mainly apical dysfunction in patients with normal coronary angiography. In this paper we report a unique case of 36-year old woman after cesarean delivery.
