FA 2016

Editor’s Note:

2016 was a paradigm shift for ‘Surfers.  As I continued in the direction from the previous year as a traveling Locum’s perfusionist, I had the opportunity to work at two new hospitals in Indiana, one in Wisconsin, one in Iowa, as well as getting on staff for another hospital in Indiana and doing an on-site visit.  That’s 5 new institutions.

Much was learned, certainly- Cardiohelp, Impella, Angiovac, and some diverse ECC designs, all added up to not only expanding my overall knowledge base, but the process of integrating new technologies is an amazing challenge on a lot of different levels.

What has become perfectly clear is that shifting to Locums for the last two years has optimized this blog and populated it with the excitement that comes with “the first day at the job” and describing the process of overcoming the challenges of new environments as well as new technologies.  I am very grateful for what I am able and allowed to do, in terms of the level of responsibility that is incumbent to our profession.

There are few professions that expect so much in terms of the effort and consistency that we deliver every moment on or off the job- so thank you for your support and dedication this past year.  2017 shall indeed be an excellent year 🙂

Below are some of the best articles and posts for 2016.  Thank you for reading and sharing your ideas.

Frank  🙂
