A Locum’s ScrapBook: Away From the OR
The 1st Saturday on Call 🙂
Editor’s Note:
I’m doing some perfusion traveling as I am taking my show on the road. As such, every once in awhile I will be dropping a few notes and pictures of places visited, and observations made. In a sense, the beginning of a scrap book on Open Heart Surgery in America (and other places if possible).
Enjoy 🙂

A Day Away From The OR
So today is one of those days, your internal alarm clock won’t let let you sleep past 6:30-ish (of course), and you are coffeed up and ready to go…
But- go where?
The outdoor thing comes to mind, some hiking and checking out some of the places I saw briefly the day before, but this time able to FaceTime the experience with my other (and better) half. Believe me- IT HELPS A LOT 🙂
If you are a locums and on the road, have a family or significant other- well FaceTimie video chats are truly a necessity. The pictures below remind you of who is not in your life for the time being- and that is probably the most significant caveat to doing locums perfusion.
The top are all my kids, and the one’s below (in duck-yellow) are them hanging out with some close friends.
So just remind yourself that you are doing it for them, and life looks a little better.

Window Shopping
Down town store windows make exceptional subjects for portrait photography. They are grainy, and imperfect, and that coarse quality is what lends them with such exxtraordinary appeal…
