To initiate an amazing thing called Bypass
The point of the pencil made me reflect on the point of no return… The moment a surgeon uses an 11 blade to incise the Aorta, cannulate the patient, and initiate an amazing thing called bypass.
Where it goes from there is not necessarily in the hands of a higher power. It is in YOUR hands, the same ones you write with on a chart to sign off on a patients life that is one clamp away from being lost- you are now, ever so briefly- the pure manifestation of medical science and an extension of that art.
The higher power is basically? Well- that’s what got you there- to do what it is you do so well 🙂
