We retrospectively reviewed 135 consecutive patients from 2006 to 2009 who underwent thoracic or lumbar spine surgery by one particular surgeon to identify risk factors for delayed extubation.
Thus, we believe that COHb elevation is a prevalent phenomenon in patients supported on VV ECMO. Causes include but are not limited to excessive negative pressure and high-blood flow.
