The Pennsylvania Legislature Today Passed House Bills 500 and 501 Enacting Licensure of Perfusionists in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Legislature today passed House Bills 500 and 501 enacting licensure of perfusionists in Pennsylvania. The bills are on their way to the Governors desk for his signature, (which we anticipate him providing very shortly.)

This day has been a long time coming. The Pennsylvania State Perfusion Society would like to thank all the perfusionists in Pennsylvania for their support. We would also like to thank our Democratic bill sponsor, Rep.
Dante Santoni, and our Republican bill sponsor, Sen. Robert Wonderling.
Also, we extend our thanks to our lobbyists, Peg Moyer and Mark Singel of The Winter Group, for all their help in getting this legislation passed.
Finally, we would like to thank the members of AmSECT’s Government Relations Committee for their help, both financial and practical, as they worked with us through this process.

The bills, once signed by the Governor, will take effect in 60 days. We will then need to work with the State Board of Medicine and the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine to draft the regulations which will specify the terms of our licensure.
