UPMC School of Cardiovascular Perfusion
Carlow undergraduate candidates for admission to the UPMC School of Perfusion must satisfy all requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Carlow, with the following modifications: Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology and Pharmacology are required, and Biomedical Ethics is recommended. One biology course is waived, as is Senior Experience (BIO 498 and BIO 499). The fourth year of courses is determined by the UPMC School of Cardiovascular Perfusion. Admission is not guaranteed and is on a very competitive basis.
Applicants who already hold a bachelor’s degree may apply to the UPMC School of Perfusion through the Carlow University Graduate Admission office. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and a 3.0 in the sciences. Students must also provide documentation of shadowing on-pump clinical perfusion cases.
