The USC Master of Science in Perfusion Sciences Program is unique in its offering as the first and only perfusion master’s program on the West Coast. This 20 month (5 semester) program is structured with concurrent clinical and didactic education, maximizing the student’s exposure to perfusion sciences. Clinical rotation sites are located within the Los Angeles area, allowing students to reside in one location without having to relocate.

Students will have the distinctive opportunity for an extended pediatric rotation at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Students are required to complete 10 pediatric observations in order to sit for the national boards exam, however students will complete a three-week rotation with CHLA, and will have an additional pediatric rotation opportunity if they have interest in pediatric perfusion.

A Master’s degree from the USC Master of Science in Perfusion Sciences Program prepares qualified students to enter the dynamic world of cardiovascular perfusion. The program provides the knowledge base, clinical experience, and resources necessary to become a highly trained, competent perfusionist, while also becoming a compassionate, caring member of a healthcare team.

We endeavor to cultivate highly-educated perfusionists who embrace professional core values, the advancement of patient care, and the profession of perfusion as a whole.

Our curriculum has been approved by the AC-PE and USC Curriculum committee, and is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of perfusion sciences, clinical and nontechnical skills, and involvement in the profession as a whole.
