This Perfusionist – Cardiovascular Surgery will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and controlling extracorporeal perfusion equipment during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery and related procedures on patients of all ages, while under the direction of a physician and in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of practice.
  • Selecting, assembling and preparing equipment and supplies for assigned cases.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Monitoring and evaluating physiologic data and making adjustments in perfusion parameters as needed.
  • Administering prescription drugs, blood products and anesthetic agents through the extracorporeal circuit and inducing specified physiologic conditions, such as hypothermia and circulatory arrest, as ordered by a physician.
  • Assisting with inventory management.
  • Assisting with assigned projects in a collaborative cardiovascular team.

 

To qualify, you must have:

  • Graduated from an accredited Perfusion Training Program, with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Current certification as a Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
  • Perfusionist licensure through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in‑depth, experienced‑based knowledge.

Waikato District Health Board is part of the Midland Health Region which serves more than 850,000 people. It leads Regional cancer, MRI, Trauma, Emergency care coordination and screening services, and has a 600-bed tertiary and training Hospital in Hamilton, one of New Zealand’s larger cities.

Waikato DHB has two dedicated cardiac theatres with a multi-disciplinary Cardiac team in a teaching hospital environment (associated with Auckland University), that performs approximately 640 adult cardiac procedures annually and the Perfusion team provides a wide range of services to cover these procedures.

You will join a busy department of experienced staff who currently deliver an excellent standard of care and service for Cardiopulmonary Bypass, Cell Salvage, Intra-Aortic Balloon Counter pulsation and occasional Hybrid lab and ECMO provision. Experience in the latter is desirable but not essential as training and necessary assistance will be given.

You will also be involved in providing Perfusion teaching and training to Nurses/Registrars/ Technicians and trainee Perfusionists.

This Procirca position is responsible for the operational planning, development, design, organization, and management of the Perfusion Services activities at Wellspan York Health System located in York, Pennsylvania. This individual will provide leadership and management while assuring high quality, cost-effective perfusion service and customer care. Required:
• Current Pennsylvania State Perfusion License.
• Graduate of CAA-HEP accredited School of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• Current American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion certification
• 10 years of clinical experience demonstrating advanced knowledge and proficiency in perfusion procedures, anatomy, physiology, and pertinent equipment.
• 5 years perfusion services supervisory/management experience.
• Demonstrated ability in understanding the key factors that influence the effectiveness of departmental operations.
• Demonstrated evidence of strong and effective interpersonal, written, and oral communications.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to reach logical conclusions based on established evidence for routine resource, operational, financial and personnel decisions
• Ability to adapt to change to reach goals of both the WellSpan Health System and Procirca
Preferred:
• Masters of Business Administration (MBA), or relevant Masters degree in Hospital Administration or Perfusion

Step into the Perfusion Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and be a catalyst for life-saving clinical care. Our Perfusionist are a team to be known by many as one of the best perfusion school sites in the country, and it is recognized around the world for its innovative techniques—many of which have been peer-reviewed and published in major journals.

 

The Operating Room Perfusionist assists in perfusions associated with surgical treatment at NYP and performs total circulatory, regional, and organ perfusions. In this role, you will provide extracorporeal circulation/cardiopulmonary support to patients until they’re able to maintain their own circulatory support. Be an ambitious team member, working alongside operating room professionals who are committed to correcting patients conditions as quickly and effectively as possible. Inject medications using a heart-lung machine. Perform ancillary duties, such as cell saving, ECMO, VAD, plasma saving and IABP.

 

This is a Days position working primarily 7:00am – 3:00pm, with overnight on-call responsibilities for emergency coverage.

 

Preferred Criteria

  • American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusionists Certification
  • 1 year experience in hospital or biological laboratory in clinical practice

 

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from a recognized college or university, or Bachelor’s Degree and enrolled in an accredited school of Cardiovascular Perfusion and completed the case requirements to sit for the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Board Examination

PROFILE

The Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences in the College of Health Sciences is seeking an outstanding individual with cardiovascular perfusion clinical expertise for the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will serve as a vital faculty member on a team of dedicated staff to supply the best educational experience possible with a focus on simulation and research in the Cardiovascular Perfusion Program. The candidate will assume the responsibilities of an academic leader at Rush as demonstrated by participation in University, college, departmental, and other professional service activities. The candidate will serve as an effective academic advisor to Rush graduate students.

Qualifications for the position include a BS Degree in Cardiovascular Perfusion (MS in Perfusion Preferred), and evidence of teaching, simulation and research potential. Candidates should possess the ABCP credential and be eligible for Illinois licensure in perfusion. The individual will hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences.
