Cincinnati’s only academic medical center is looking for self-motivated candidates who possess a positive attitude and a passion for patient care.

Our team is composed of both full-time and PRN staff, which allows for a flexible staffing schedule. We conduct competency training for staff, wet labs for ECMO transport, and collaborate with air care and mobile care for ECMO transport simulations.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Staff Perfusionist for our Perfusion department located at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, Illinois.  This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible.  Hours are on a rotating shift basis. Work may be at any of the four NorthShore University HealthSystem hospitals: Evanston, Skokie, Glenbrook, and Highland Park.

Responsibilities:

Perform functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient including: counterpulsation, circulatory support ventricular assistance, blood conservation/autotransfusion, myocardial preservation, anticoagulation and hematologic monitoring, induction of hypothermia with reversal, hemodilution and other associated duties.
Create and modify existing techniques to accommodate complex cardiac procedures such as LVAD, DHCA, ECMO, or bridge-to-transplant
Engage in rapid, critical decision-making to meet the needs of individual patients
Provide advice and counsel to medical, professional, and technical colleagues on issued related to perfusion

Summary:

The Clinical Specialist will be responsible for assisting the Territory Sales Manager, leading clinical evaluations & trials, in addition to collecting, analyzing & presenting data. Responsibilities will also include giving clinical presentations at professional meetings, cardiothoracic residency/fellowship programs and perfusion schools. The Clinical Specialist will assist the Territory Sales Manager selling, promoting and providing strategic account management of all of Quest’s products. These sales will drive revenue growth by new account development and the expansion of existing accounts, to meet sales quotas based on the company’s sales goals.

 

Requirements:

·       Current or previous CCP (Certified Clinical Perfusionist) required. Bachelor’s Degree or above will be required with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience.

·       Solid understanding of specified functional area, and application of business concepts, procedures & practices.

·       Capable of managing time and resources within the assigned territory in conjunction with near-term plans to ensure the territory’s objectives are achieved.

·       Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and maintaining honesty, integrity and excellent work ethics.

Duties:

·       Serve as a key business partner to Quest clients in the field, develop & maintain strong relationships. Promptly respond to customer needs & complaints regarding products & service.

·       Lead and/or participate in the coordination of clinical evaluations & trials.

·       Collect, analyze & present clinical data related to the use of Quest products.

·       Present at professional meetings, cardiothoracic residency & fellowship programs & perfusion schools.

·       Attend Industry tradeshows.

·       Assist Sales team in selling products by scheduling meetings with current and potential customers to fulfill revenue and unit growth objectives assigned by company on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.

·       Determine the needs (e.g., product and pricing), goals, product usage, and types of cases handled by specific customers by meeting with and asking in-depth questions of physicians and other hospital personnel to learn which Quest products can best address their specific needs.

·       Develop relationships with hospital personnel (e.g. through casual conversation, meetings, participation in conferences) to make new contacts in other departments within hospital and to identify key purchasing decision makers in order to facilitate future sales.

·       Educate customers on the merits and proper clinical usage of company products by giving presentations and demonstrations using a wide variety of formats and platforms (e.g., slides, transparencies, manuals) to secure purchasing commitments, often with the help of incentive programs and services made available to the account being developed.

·       Observe actual procedures in the operating room of hospital accounts to gain insight into the specific nuances of each physician & perfusionist.

·       Provide front-line management to contract clinical specialist pool, identifying resource needs, deploying resources to accounts, tracking program costs and revenue impact, and meeting annual budget goals

·       Collaborate with R&D team on new product development activities to provide clinical input as well as utilizing clinical network for Voice of Customer activities

The account consists of 2 hospitals and 4 highly-skilled, cardiac surgeons that perform approximately 350 – 400 adult OHS cases per year.  These include CABG’s, aortic/mitral/tricuspid valve surgery, TAVR, aortic procedures, and perfusion standby as needed.  The cardiac teams at each facility are very pleasant, friendly, and outgoing. MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center is seeking a board certified or board eligible (ABCP) full-time perfusionist to join our quickly-growing cardiac program at MercyOne Heart and Vascular Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Position Objective:

Chief Perfusionist is responsible for the clinical and administrative oversite of the perfusion department at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Essential Job Duties:

BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) is recruiting additional Perfusionists to increase its complement of skilled Pediatric Perfusionists to meet the current and future demands of this growing program and promote work-life balance.

Over the past five years, the cardiac surgery program at BCCH has grown to include cardiac transplant procedures and internal and external cardiac devices (such as Berlin Hearts and VADs). In November of 2017, BC Children’s Hospital opened a new acute care hospital with state of the art operating rooms, including hybrid interventional/cardiac rooms, all outfitted with the latest technology to support advances in pediatric surgical care.

As part of this dynamic team, you will be involved in the operation of cardiovascular perfusion for a variety of surgical and therapeutic procedures to care for BC’s neonatal and pediatric patients. Your responsibilities will include: performing ECLS initiations and clinical consultation; cell saver activity; managing the physiologic care of children undergoing heart surgery; and maintenance of the specialized equipment used by our perfusion team. Your expertise and knowledge of the complex technology required to meet industry standards for perfusion care will be crucial in assisting the organization to ensure we have the best equipment available to meet the clinical demands of the pediatric population, while ensuring standardization of equipment across the province. You will work collaboratively with a number of programs within the organization, including the cardiology program, the cardiac surgical team, the orthopedic surgical team, the critical care team (including ECLS), and other health professionals, including anesthesia assistants, nurses, and administration.

The Perfusion department is actively engaged in interdisciplinary education around extracorporeal technology both within the hospital and provincially with the BCIT School of Perfusion Sciences.

What you’ll do

  • Perform patient calculations and select, set up, prime, operate and maintain appropriate specialized cardiovascular perfusion equipment for a variety of surgical procedures such as cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and organ transplantation.
  • Monitor physiological responses to cardiopulmonary bypass by monitoring flows and pressures (such as venous return); collecting and analyzing blood samples; and monitoring laboratory results.
  • Work collaboratively with Biomedical Engineering to ensure all perfusion related equipment meets current standards for maintenance.
  • Assist medical staff with equipment evaluations related to cardiovascular perfusion as directed by providing feedback and input.
  • Participate in perfusion science research projects by reviewing literature and modifying current equipment and procedures and/or developing and testing new equipment and procedures under the direction of the Cardiac Surgeons and/or Anesthetists.

What you bring

  • Graduation from an accredited cardiovascular perfusion program
  • Three (3) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current experience with Sorin S5 Heart Lung Machine and Berlin heart, Rotoflow, Centrimag, and Heartware blood pumps an asset.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of pediatric perfusion experience preferred.
  • Eligibility to challenge certification with the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (cscp.ca web site defines requirements for international eligibility).
  • The ability to work well in a challenging work environment with highly skilled professionals.

What you’ll do
