The Perfusionist is responsible for the assembly and operation of the heart-lung machine during open-heart surgery. Primary responsibilities also include the set-up and operation of other cardiopulmonary bypass systems and ventricular support devices. Estimated salary range for this position is $144738.24 – $217,108.94 / year depending on experience.

Primarily works in the cardiac surgery operating room to provide cardiopulmonary bypass support on adult open-heart cases. Responsible for the operation of extra-corporeal circulation equipment during surgical and medical situations, primarily cardio pulmonary by-pass surgery. Summary:

Maintains and operates cardiopulmonary pump, Cell Saver, autotransfuser and intra-aortic balloon pump during invasive cardiovascular procedures. Provides assistance to the physicians and staff as needed. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Responsibilities:

Meets the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
A Perfusionist is responsible for the delivery of patient care as needed during a surgical procedure.
A Perfusionist maintains and operates cardiopulmonary pump, Cell Saver, auto transfuser and intra-aortic balloon pump during invasive cardiovascular procedures, and provides assistance to the physicians as needed.
Operate life support equipment for the patient undergoing open-heart surgery, specifically the cardiopulmonary bypass machine (“pump”).
Set up and operate left and/or right heart bypass pumps.
Operate extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and/or operation of total or partial artificial heart console systems.
Set up and operate Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping system.
Demonstrate full knowledge of the heparin, protamine, anticoagulation-titration analysis systems.
Ability to serve in an advisory capacity to the surgeon responsible for ordering the administration of cardiac drugs.
Set up and operate Auto transfusion (blood cell saver) equipment when required to support cardiovascular, orthopedic, vascular and other surgical procedures in which the auto transfusion system is required.
Demonstrate understanding of and proficiency in patient management responsibilities including: Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Cardiology, Surgical Techniques, Physiologic Monitoring, and Patient Care.
Review basic histology and anatomy required to gain the best understanding of the patient’s disease process.
Assist in setting up and inserting the IABP in a variety of settings as required; OR, Cardiac Cath Lab, ICU or other areas.
Ensure ordering off supplies and organizational activity needs.
Ensure heart-lung machines are cleaned and in good working order per manufacturer’s recommendations.
Assist in providing required data for Quality and Infection Control as needed.
Requirements:

Education/Skills 

Completion of an accredited perfusionist program required.

Experience

3 year of experience preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

BLS required.
Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion preferred.
Perfusionist state licensure preferred.

ECLS Specialist – Pediatrics
Location: Children’s Hospital of Michigan

Comprehensive Care Services, Inc. is seeking individuals with 1–2 years of critical care experience as a CCP, RN, or RRT to join our growing ECLS team at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Prior ECLS experience is preferred but not required, as comprehensive training will be provided.

Looking for a highly motivated perfusionist to complete a 2 member perfusion team.  This account offers a laid-back schedule, 1/2 call responsibilities, and a very welcoming heart team. You should expect to work <20 hours per week. Procedures are primarily CABGs, few valves, and the occasional cell saver.

Staff Perfusionist-Ascension St. Vincent

Comprehensive Care Services Inc. is looking for a Staff Perfusionist for Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville, IN with at least three-five years of experience.  Salary for this position will be $225,000 and the selected candidate will ensure that the Perfusion Department meets quality standards within the resources available.  Ensures that the Perfusion Department responds to Open Heart Surgery, Autotransfusion, Pump Standby and IABP according to protocols and Hospital agreement.  Primarily CABGs, isolated valves, and TAVRs.  Performs procedures relative to the physiological management of patients’ circulatory and respiratory functioning during and following cardiac surgery, under the direct supervision of the anesthesiologist and operating surgeon.  There are very few after hours/weekend cases performed providing for a very nice quality of life.
