We are seeking a motivated, forward-thinking Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) who has demonstrated skills in leadership, perfusion education, and clinical practice. The position includes opportunities for teaching, curriculum development, scholarship, clinical practice and student advising. All perfusion faculty contribute to the division’s mission of preparing “competent and compassionate clinical perfusionists who are dedicated to quality patient care, employing best practice methods, interprofessional collaboration, and outcomes research”.
Candidates without a doctoral degree complete a doctorate within the first five years of employment. The position is tenure track eligible. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with credentials and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
· Five years clinical perfusion experience
· Preparation in the basic and clinical sciences relevant to perfusion practice
· Knowledge of clinical practice and professional issues
· Active certification as a CCP
· Master’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
The most competitive candidates will have:
· A record of expertise in clinical and/or didactic education
· Experience in curriculum development, academic scholarship, and professional association involvement
· Completed or in-progress doctoral degree
Principle Job Duties
· Work toward continual improvement of the division, the program, and the profession by providing input and taking initiative.
· Contribute to student instruction as course director and instructor for the Program’s Clinical Experience courses and foundational curriculum.
· Pursue and maintain affiliate relationships with external clinical sites.
· Assign, monitor, and manage student clinical observations during year one of the program.
· Assign, monitor, and manage student clinical rotations during year two of the program.
· Work cohesively with the clinical education team to:
o Prepare students for clinical rotations by managing and enforcing onboarding requirements.
o Pursue and maintain clinical rotation sites.
o Communicate effectively with students and clinical affiliates.
· Collect and maintain second year student and preceptor evaluations.
· Participate in and conduct high-fidelity simulation throughout year one of the program curriculum.
· Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the simulation labs and equipment.
· Participate in the education of resident students within the Entry-level CVP program, distance-based students within the post-professional program, and distance-based students within the Extracorporeal Science program.
· Maintain professional practice through direct patient clinical care, to include a minimum caseload of 40 procedures to maintain certification.
