Logan Health Medical Center, located in scenic Kalispell, Montana, has an exciting opportunity for a staff perfusionist to join its highly skilled team.
We are located in the heart of Northwest Montana, a short drive to Glacier National Park, numerous fresh water lakes and rivers, ski resorts, outdoor recreation, and surrounded by stunning mountain views.
This is a full-time, salaried, staff position with benefits. Salary is $120,931 to $188,822 per year, depending on experience.
This position is responsible for setup and operation of equipment such as heart-lung machine for cardiopulmonary bypass procedures, ventricular assist devices, hyper thermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), percutaneous cardiopulmonary bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and autologous auto transfusion for cardiac surgery. Provides IABP, cell saver, and surgical back up for procedures performed in the OR, Cardiac catheterization lab and/or ICU.
Qualifications:
• Graduate from CAHEA Accredited perfusion training program required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Perfusion or a related field required.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ clinical experience required.
• Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) required.
• Current HCP CPR preferred or must successfully obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.
• Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as
part of a team as well as independently.
• Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
• Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as
needed.
Job Specific Duties:
• Reviews patient’s medical record preoperatively to assess scope of disease/illness and physiological needs required while on
cardiopulmonary bypass,
• Makes appropriate judgments concerning prime selection, additional fluid choices, drug usage during priming and CPB, and
techniques of conducting CPB in collaboration with the surgeon.
• In accordance with established protocols, sets-up and primes heart-lung machine and cardioplegia circuits. Monitors all necessary
patient parameters while on cardiopulmonary bypass and documents appropriately. Communicates information and changes in patient
condition to the surgeon, anesthesiologist and surgical personnel.
• Routinely monitors acid-base, hemodynamic and hemostasis parameters, maintaining levels within acceptable limits. Ensures all
quality control testing and documentation is consistently completed. Collaborates with Point of Care Coordinator to assure regulatory
and accrediting body requirements are met.
• Provides CPB standby for TAVR cases and maintains CPB circuit readiness for emergent TAVR salvage and surgical intervention.
• Assists with set-up, operation and inspection of IABP’s as appropriate. Initiates and operates autologous blood recovery systems for
cardiac surgical cases. Communicates appropriate indications and contraindications for the use of the equipment to the surgeon.
• Performs comprehensive assessment of cardiovascular patients in accordance with Logan Health policies and procedures. Assesses
and reassess each patient, identifies problems, implements interventions and evaluates patient’s response. Provides appropriate ongoing patient/family education.
• Adheres to policies/procedures directing the administration of medications and intravenous therapy. Performs reassessment and
documentation of patient response to medication.
