RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY

Provides clinical and product education to Healthcare Professionals on the full portfolio of LivaNova Cardiopulmonary products. Training sessions may be conducted in person or virtually and must align with all approved instructions for use. PRIMARY ACTIVITIES

Coordinates, directs, and delivers clinical training programs on LivaNova products, as necessary and appropriate.

Provides cardiopulmonary support for patients undergoing open heart and major thoracic surgery.

After a careful chart review and consulting with the physician, a Traveling Perfusionist will be responsible for safely selecting, assembling, operating, and disposing of the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit and other related equipment for which PDC contracts its services.

While operating the heart-lung machine, monitor physiological parameters necessary for patient survival and take corrective action when abnormal situations arise. These actions will be communicated and coordinated with the primary surgeon and anesthesiologist involved with the procedure.

Perform supportive roles for other medical specialties by operating mechanical devices that assist in the conservation of blood or providing both short-term and long-term extracorporeal support.

Work within the following boundaries: professional training, current professional literature relative to the area of expertise, documented policy and procedures, hospital regulations, program guides, applicable laws, and hospital guidelines pertinent to bypass surgery and the open-heart program. While executing his/her duties in the surgical area, he/she will be under the direction of the primary surgeon.

The Assistant Director of Perfusion is responsible for managing the day-to-day clinical operation and the administrative functions of the Cardiac Perfusion services and the ECMO Program and will report to the director of Perfusion. Coordinates and participates in the training of students, staff, and peers.

Clinical Specialist

The ideal candidate will work in a dynamic medical device research and development environment. This is a high visibility role with a significant and direct impact on the success of the company. Responsibilities will include providing clinical support for product range and assisting in the conduct of clinical studies for Berlin Heart medical devices. This key position will be the primary interface between Berlin Heart and our customers in areas pertaining to clinical use. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

The duties of Clinical Specialist are to include but not limited to:

Provide on-site clinical support with pre-implant, peri-implant, and post-implant training and support at implanting centers throughout North and South America. A significant amount of overnight travel should be expected.
Perform patient follow-up and data collection related to outcomes, adverse events, and other patient related issues.
Establish clinical and business relationships with hospital staff across all levels.
Participate in sales and marketing activities as assigned.
Provide twenty-four hour emergency telephone support on a rotational basis.
Assist in the development of education materials, and scientific publications.
Actively communicate with clinical team members, including participation in team meetings and updates.
Participate in Clinical VAD associated meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: BS with allied healthcare experience, Graduate Degree Desirable Background in Nursing, Perfusion or Cardiology with an emphasis on Pediatric preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Clinical Affairs documentation and design and implementation, demonstrated leadership skills, strong communication skills both written and spoken.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years direct work experience in medical device investigational clinical studies and associated experience with regulatory affairs. RN or CCP. VAD experience preferred.
