Job Description:

Bellin Health is currently seeking a well-qualified perfusionist to join our experienced team of three to become fully staffed as a team of four. Responsible for providing quality care and monitoring of cardiovascular surgical patients. Maintains safe environment for patients and staff, assures properly functioning equipment, maintains availability of equipment, supplies, and drugs. Assists physicians and informs physicians of relevant information. Maintains patient treatment area for emergent and scheduled procedures. Available as a patient care consult for perfusion-related issues/topics.

This account will provide the perfect acuity level for a new grad to learn or an experienced perfusionist to keep their skills and clinical competencies sharp. Candidates should be proficient in trouble shooting, problem solving, adaptability in the clinical setting, communication, evidence-based practices, and function well in a tight-knit, small team dynamic.

Call and case load is split evenly for a very attractive work/life balance and call ratio of 25%. We are hospital employed and work at one institution. Case load in ’23 was approximately 230 hearts, and we are currently on track to do 280 hearts in ’24. We work with two surgeons, one tenured and one, very promising, new surgeon, both extremely skilled, and both very easy to work, communicate, and get along with. Cases vary from CABG to MVR to MIDCAB to any aortic work, as well as TAVRs, infrequent non-cardiac cell savers, and devices such as IABP, Impella, and ECMO. Most ECMOs are transported right away but will occasionally be kept in house in which case, locums are currently set up to assist with coverage. Equipment includes S5 heart-lung machines, soon to be replaced by Spectrum Quantum, Terumo disposables, Cardioquip heater/coolers, CDI 500, Epic EMR, Autolog II cell savers, Medtronic HMS, i-STAT, and Cardiohelp.
