Perfusionist, First Shift, Perfusion Services Department

UC Health is hiring a full-time Perfusionist at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We’re offering a $25,000 sign-on bonus!

The Clinical Perfusionist is responsible for the set-up and operation of extracorporeal circulation equipment during certain medical situations where it is necessary to support or temporarily replace the patient’s circulatory and/or respiratory function. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and replenish Point of Care supplies
  • Perform Equipment Checks, Preventative Maintenance and Quality Control Checks of Perfusion Devices
  • Continuously monitor equipment for signs of faulty performance
  • Inform the appropriate personnel of items that need to be serviced
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and Quality Control checks on Point of Care analyzers and other perfusion related devices
  • Perform quarterly Lab QC checks on Cell Salvage equipment
  • Evaluate Perfusion Related Devices to Determine Operational Characteristics and Therapeutic Value
  • Continuously monitor disposables for appropriate performance
  • Participate in the evaluation of new devices Introduce potential new devices with data review or feedback surveys
  • Perform periodic data studies on perfusion techniques and practices in order to determine the potential for therapeutic value or quality improvement

  • Population Served Competency – Evidence exists that staff considers the special needs and behaviors of the specific patient populations served. Evidence also exists that shows the staff demonstrates those competencies that address the unique characteristics related to developmental, physical, psychosocial, mental, emotional and social needs of patients across the life span. Qualifications

  • Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Perfusion Science, required.
  • Masters Degree in Perfusion Science, preferred.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited perfusion technology program.
  • Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or board eligibility is required.

The Oklahoma Heart Hospital is seeking a Full-Time staff Perfusionist. We provide cardiac services for two campuses in the Oklahoma City area. Our caseload, performed by five Cardiothoracic surgeons, consists of CABGS, OPCABS, valve procedures and aortic procedures. We also provide in-house standby for various select procedures. Our caseload averages approximately 1250 surgical procedures with and additional 250+ standby cases annually.

 

The ideal candidate for this position must be reliable, a strong team player, have a great attitude and work ethic and must be confident to operate independently. We prefer a candidate that is ABCP certified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. An Oklahoma License is also required.

 

The OHH Perfusionist conducts clinical perfusion and ensures the safe management of physiologic functions by monitoring the necessary parameters during cardiopulmonary bypass, administer blood products, anesthetic agents or drugs through the perfusion circuit under the supervision of a surgeon or cardiac anesthesiologist. Be available (on Hospital premises) for follow-up care until released by the primary surgeon or treating physician. Perform the initial set up and timing of an intra-aortic balloon pump.

The staff perfusionist is responsible for all aspects of perfusion services provided by the Cardiovascular Surgery program of Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. –          Gaining an in-depth knowledge of OrganOx FDA approved and investigational or research products, as well as associated clinical procedures

–          Serving as the subject matter expert on the device and procedures during IDE studies and research projects

Major Responsibilities

Product Knowledge and Training

·       Gaining an in-depth knowledge of OrganOx FDA approved and investigational/research products, as well as associated clinical procedures

·       Experience with perfusion devices and management of patients or donor organs is a must

·       Previous experience in the medical device industry with preference for transplant and perfusion devices is desired

·       Computer literate and familiar with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·       Be able to travel regularly within North America as required

The qualified candidate will participate in a variety of adult & pediatric cardiac surgery procedures including; ASD, VSD, CABG, valve, minimally invasive mitral and aortic valve repair/replacement, adult heart transplant, VAD & ECMO.  Our surgeons are exceptionally skilled and great to work with.  This position is full-time with rotating on-call and clinical cases shared equally.

Summary

The University of Utah is looking for a strong team player, hard worker, and an individual with a desire to help the program succeed.  The University of Utah Hospital performs approximately 1000+ cardiac cases per year.  We are involved in a wide variety of cardiac cases including, but not limited to: CABG, valve, LVAD, RVAD, heart and lung transplantation, NRP, complex aortic cases, Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy, adult congenital, etc. Perfusion also provides services related to auto-transfusion, component therapy, coagulation testing, TAVR’s and HIPEC. There is minimal involvement with ECMO and occasionally Intra-aortic Balloon pumps. We are affiliated with the University of Utah School of Medicine which has a rich history of providing excellent medical training and provides the opportunity to teach and train upcoming perfusion students through its Masters level Perfusion Program. All clinical perfusionists will be part of the clinical education of these students and may also have the opportunity to teach didactically in the classroom. On-call responsibilities during the week, as well as weekends, and holidays are divided amongst the team.

CCS is looking for a motivated full-time Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) to join the team to assist with our Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) efforts utilizing a mini cardiopulmonary bypass circuit.  This candidate will be in the Charleston, S.C. area and will have at least 3 years of experience as a CCP.

As a key part of the Organ Procurement team the candidate will be responsible for preparation and operation of the mini-bypass circuit.  The candidate will have strong communication and coordination skills along with the ability to work independently.  In this role, the candidate will provide safe and effective management of bypass during the organ retrieval.  Candidate will demonstrate competence in Point of Care devices and treat the corresponding variables: acid/base balance, hemoglobin level, volume management, Cardiac output, electrolytes and temperature.  Will be required to maintain thorough perfusion records before, during and after the retrieval.  They will be able to operate, maintain and calibrate all relevant points of care equipment.  Ensures inventory and supplies are maintained, sorted and received for the region.  The Perfusionist will travel to various hospitals throughout the state of South Carolina.
