An autotransfusionist is responsible for setting up, calibrating, and maintaining autotransfusion machines while troubleshooting any equipment issues that arise. Their primary role involves collecting and processing surgical blood for reinfusion, ensuring it adheres to safety and quality standards. They must meticulously document every stage of the autotransfusion process and maintain comprehensive records to ensure compliance with established protocols. Patient safety remains paramount, requiring the autotransfusionist to closely adhere to regulations and collaborate seamlessly with the surgical team. This collaboration extends to providing timely updates and assisting in training initiatives related to autotransfusion within the surgical team.
Qualifications:
Degree or certification in a related health science field
Specialized training or certification in autotransfusion is preferable but may be attained after training
Familiarity with autotransfusion equipment and related technologies also preferable
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation:
Salary for this position is approximately $44,000-$47,000 depending upon experience
