Comprehensive Care Services is looking for a 1099 Perfusionist in the Longview, TX area. This position would a short-term assignment as a contracted employee. The perfusionist will perform procedures related to the physiological management of patients’ circulatory and respiratory functions during and following cardiac surgery, under the direct supervision of the anesthesiologist and operating surgeon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cardiopulmonary bypass and ECMO support for cardiac surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patient and equipment status and communicate changes to the surgical team.
  • Manage blood products and mechanical circulatory support as indicated.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to support safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Document procedures and maintain compliance with hospital, state, and AMSECT standards.

Requirements

Must have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and have current BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Current state licensure as well, as required by applicable state law.

POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a Certified Autotransfusionist to support surgical services at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. You will operate cell salvage and autotransfusion equipment during surgical procedures, recovering and processing patient blood for reinfusion to minimize the need for allogeneic transfusions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operate and manage intraoperative cell salvage and autotransfusion equipment during surgical procedures. Collect, wash, and process salvaged blood for reinfusion per established protocols. Monitor equipment function and blood product quality throughout procedures. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and OR nursing staff. Document all autotransfusion activities per VA protocols and regulatory standards. Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot autotransfusion equipment. Ensure compliance with VA infection control, blood banking, and safety protocols. Participate in quality assurance and blood management programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Certified Autotransfusionist (CAT) credential or equivalent certification. Associate degree or higher in a related health science field. Experience operating cell salvage devices (Cell Saver, OrthoPAT, or equivalent). Current BLS certification. U.S. citizenship (VA requirement). Ability to obtain VA credentialing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS VA or federal healthcare experience. Additional perfusion or blood bank certifications. Experience in high-volume surgical settings (cardiac, orthopedic, trauma). Familiarity with VA IT systems (CPRS/VistA). Knowledge of AABB blood management standards.

Respond to intraoperative emergencies with appropriate interventions. Ensure compliance with VA infection control and safety protocols.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Current ABCP CCP (Certified Clinical Perfusionist) certification. Graduate of CAAHEP-accredited perfusion education program. Hands-on experience with CPB, ECMO, and IABP management. Current BLS and ACLS certification. U.S. citizenship (VA requirement). Ability to obtain VA credentialing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1000+ clinical perfusion cases. VA or federal healthcare experience. Advanced certification (ECECP or ABCP-P specialty). Experience with neonatal or pediatric perfusion. Familiarity with VA IT systems (CPRS/VistA).

Northwest Permanente, P.C. is currently seeking a Board Certified Clinical Cardiac Perfusionist for a temporary assignment at Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, OR.

Our Profusionists see adults only, with some adult congenital repairs. Our team averages 550 cases per year, which is divided among 4 Perfusionists. Procedures include CABG, valves, minimally invasive Mitral cases, Ascending Aortic repairs, VAD’s TAVR’s, and occasional left heart bypass. You will not see pediatric cases, transplants, or ECMO.

We enjoy working with our 4 surgeons, two cardiac suites, and newly built hybrid room.
